Seven-Year Bucket List

The other day dad and I were driving to Chicago. One of my favorite parts of that drive is driving by O'hare. It means we are getting close to the city, traffic starts to pick up and I get to fantasize about all the places I want to go. I always wonder where each plane is going and find myself envious of the people on the planes. After watching a few planes take off I said to dad, "Someday I am just going to show up at the airport, look at the boards and buy a ticket. That is on my Bucket List!" He replied saying that would be and also that Bucket LIsts are always changing, which is a good point! I know that my Bucket List now is much different that what it will be when I have settled down. I also realized at this point that I don't have an actual Bucket List yet. I just use it as a saying a lot, "crossed that off my Bucket List" or "that is on my Bucket List." So here I am blogging for the first time in a month (I've had a boring month!) AND writing my Bucket List! However, since I am young and I know my Bucket List will change, I am writing my Seven-Year Bucket List. The top seven things I want to do before I am thirty! So in no particular order here it is...
  1. Be a part of a flash mob! I have never seen a flash mob in person, but I LOVE them! I can never stop watching when I see them online or on TV. They seem fun and spontaneous, plus I am obsessed with dance! I think if I ever even saw a flash mob, let alone was in one, I would cry out of pure excitement!
  2. Skydive. I loved bungy jumping, so this should come of no shock! My grandpa used to skydive all the time and loved it and know quite a few other people who have done and it and had a blast, so I think it's my turn now!
  3. Show up and airport, buy a random ticket and go! The inspiration behind the list! When I travel I typically book my ticket 3-4 months in advance, so I want to be really spontaneous and care-free and just go!
  4. Help some. This one seems really vague, but I want to make a difference in someone's life. I would really love to volunteer my time somewhere and get to know and talk to the people I am helping. I would love to spend some of my free time in the summer volunteering somewhere or traveling somewhere to help kids and other people who are less fortunate. I think it'd be a great thing to do and really eye-opening!
  5. Travel to Rio De Janerio, Brazil. Rio has always been one of my top places to go. It looks gorgeous and the culture seems like a lot of fun! I want to see it and experience it myself!
  6. Have a pen pal. I absolutely love al the technology we have today. I can't imagine what I would do if my car broke down and I didn't have a cell phone and I know I wouldn't be able to move so far from my family and friends I couldn't Skype with them every once in while. However I love getting snail mail. Call me a hoarder if you must, but I still save almost every card and letter I get and have been saving them since I was a kid. I love looking back and reading them, they always bring back lots of memories. Plus, who doesn't love getting something besides bills and junk in the mail?! I want a pen pal who I can write to for a long time, I think it would be a great way to make a new friend!
  7. Go hang-gliding. When I was in New Zealand I saw and talked to a couple of guys who were hang-gliding. It looked like so much fun, plus I love anything that gets my adrenaline going! Hang-gliding seems like bungy jumping in that I know I would be terrified taking that initial jump, but flying through the air would be incredibly freeing!
So there you have it, my Seven-Year Bucket List. It took me a few days to come up with this list. I wanted to make sure each thing was something I really wanted to do. Also, while writing this list, I realized that my Bucket List seems kind of shallow. At first I was a little annoyed with myself, but I want to have fun before I settle down. When I settle down I want to adopt a dog (finally) and I have always wanted to foster a child, but when I do these things I want to give 100%. In order to do all that, I want to have fun now. I want to do crazy things, meet new people and see the world!

What’s on your bucket list? Tell me! I wanted to put 10 things on mine, but thought I would keep it to one thing a year and add as I needed to!

Sincerely,

Michelle
