Hi Friends!
Here I am again with more good news! A few days ago I emailed the director of students at AIS (the guy who hired us) and asked if he knew yet what grade I would be teaching. When I left the career fair it looked like I would be in a second or third grade room. I was super excited to have a job, so I wasn't too concerned what grade I'd end up teaching, but I was elated when he responded saying they had four open positions and I got to pick what grade I'd be teaching! How crazy is that, getting to pick my first job?! My choices were between first, second, third and fourth and if you can't tell by the title of this post, second grade was the winner! I surprised myself a bit by choosing second grade. I have always LOVED fifth grade, so I was really considering fourth but I wanted to try something new, so second grade it is!
Now that I know what grade I will be teaching I want to start my lesson planning right away! I am excited to read all about the curriculum at AIS (here is the link for anyone interested!) I have already been searching blogs on Pineterest and have been finding such fun ideas. I am even more excited for August to come now. It is crazy to think that in only six short months I will be starting my first year of teaching. I can't wait to move and get started. I can't wait to meet my kids and my own classroom!
Until I have my own classroom I am loving subbing. I have been getting some fun ideas from different classrooms and meeting lots of fun kiddos. And of course my life is ever busy with dance. If there is one thing I will really miss about home (bedsides friends and family of course..) it is dance. Speaking of... I HAVE to shout out to all of the Almost Famous Girls. They competed in Davenport this weekend and kicked some serious booty! They had super tough competition and I think they were a bit intimidated, but they really came out on top. It was by far one of my most proud moments. Saying goodbye at the end of the season in May is going to be super hard and maybe a bit tearful. I love those crazy girls and wish I could keep teaching them!
Stay tuned, I am sure I'll be posting like crazy when I start getting some fun plans in place!
Yours faithfully,
Michelle
